About

A living directory for Brooklyn's creative community.

Brooklyn Art Directory is a free, community-built index of artists, designers, galleries, studios, and creative spaces across the borough.

Why this exists

The project started as a response to static open-studios directories that were useful for a weekend, but difficult to search, map, update, or keep alive over time. Brooklyn's creative scene changes constantly, and the tools for discovering it should be able to change with it.

Every approved profile can include images, contact links, disciplines, a statement, location details, video, and history. Artists and galleries can claim or create their own pages, then keep them current without waiting for a one-off annual update.

The directory is designed for visitors, curators, collectors, neighbors, organizers, and artists themselves: people who want a better way to find who is working nearby, what they make, and how to connect with them.

What guides the directory

Free to list

Artists, designers, and galleries can apply without a listing fee.

Owned by the people listed

Profiles are meant to be claimed and maintained by the artists and spaces they represent.

Built for discovery

Search, filters, maps, images, and related profiles make browsing feel active rather than archival.

Brooklyn first

The focus is the borough's working studios, galleries, and creative neighborhoods.
