Adam Suerte is a Brooklyn-born painter and multidisciplinary artist who studied at the Art Students League and the High School of Music and Art before earning a BFA in illustration from the Rhode Island School of Design in 1991. His paintings, drawings, and prints depict Brooklyn's changing urban landscape, often focusing on details like lampposts, bridges, fire hydrants, and subways as the borough gentrifies, drawing on influences from Impressionism, Dutch Masters, underground comics, and Aztec art. He founded the Urban Folk Art Studios collective in 1991, later curated Urban Folk Art Gallery on Smith Street from 2011 to 2017, and co-founded Brooklyn Tattoo in 2002.
