Ann Cofta

I am primarily a textile artist whose work combines sewing, printmaking, and embroidery techniques. My art is focused on exploring relationships between objects, time and memory, and how they connect to our sense of place. The artworks are usually in the form of 2-D constructions, often representing cityscapes and urban structures, or of obsolete items like rotary phones and typewriters. The significance of human touch is an important aspect of my practice. It is evident in the delicate hand stitching of my textile work, a technique that adds dimension and texture to each piece.
