Chris Capuozzo is a Brooklyn-based artist, designer, and illustrator, born in Staten Island in 1966, who studied at the High School of Art & Design and earned a BA from the School of Visual Arts, where his teachers included Art Spiegelman and Harvey Kurtzman. He began as a graffiti writer in New York's train scene in the mid-1980s, made album art and posters for the hardcore punk community, assisted artist Jack Goldstein on his "Totems" project in 1987, and co-founded the design studio Funny Garbage in the mid-1990s. Working under the studio name Intergalactico, he makes mixed-media paintings and cut-paper works that mine pop-culture ephemera; the Cooper Hewitt Museum acquired one of his sketchbooks in 2000, and he had a 2004 solo show at Sandra Gering Gallery.
