Sculpture

Cong Ma is a metal artist investigating the autonomy of form through "spatial intervention." Transitioning from the precision of traditional Chinese painting to the visceral language of metal, she reconfigures metallic entities into "spatial glitches" that challenge our anthropocentric arrogance. In her recent series, including the spatial apparatus Primary Reality, Ma explores the inherent absurdity of human intervention. By deconstructing the logic of objects, her practice transforms materiality into an "apparatus of capture," rendering the human passive and entangled. She asks a simple, unsettling question: Do we truly occupy our rooms, or are the rooms simply tolerating our presence?

The physical world is collapsing. Objects no longer serve us; they capture us. Are we occupying space, or just being tolerated by it?
