My textile paintings and sculptural installations intertwine storytelling with textile traditions and gendered histories. I layer pattern, imagery, and text on clear vinyl, stitching with a barbed red line that is both seam and defiance. As a girl, I often felt invisible, quietly knitting or embroidering while observing the dynamics between women and men. That practice led me to center women’s voices in my work and challenge the structures that obscured them. Using pink and red, I reference oppressive notions of femininity. From afar, text appears as pattern; up close, words from diaries, news, and fairy tales emerge, stitching resistance.
