Elizabeth O'Reilly is an Irish-born painter who has kept a studio in the Gowanus section of Brooklyn for decades. Born in West Cork, Ireland, she holds a B.Ed. from St. Patrick's College (National University of Ireland) and an MFA from Brooklyn College. Working primarily in oil, alongside watercolor and collage, she paints the industrial waterway and structures of the Gowanus Canal, as well as scenes from Maine and her native Ireland. O'Reilly is represented by George Billis Gallery in New York and Caldbeck Gallery in Rockland, Maine, and has completed residencies at the Ballinglen Arts Foundation, the Ucross Foundation, and the Ragdale Foundation. Her work is held in collections including the U.S. State Department and the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art.

Irish-born, but Brooklyn based since 1986, Elizabeth O'Reilly responds in her work to the tug between her Irish homeland and her adopted America. O'Reilly divides her time between her studio in Gowanus, Brooklyn, and her home on the North Fork of Long Island, though she paints in Maine and New Jersey. She switches gears from plein air oils to watercolors as well as collages done in watercolor, based on motifs from the Gowanus canal. The collages are an indoor motif in inclement weather. O'Reilly is represented by the George Billis gallery in Chelsea, NY, and the Caldbeck Gallery in Rockland Maine.
