Faye Hays
OtherFaye’s weavings explore cloth as a record of time and domesticity. She makes fabric as a protest to marketability and the loss of individuality in economies of scale. Weaving for the healing aspects of its tactility in contrast to her digital professional life, she seeks connection to women weavers of thousands of years past. Faye holds a doctorate from Harvard University, where she investigated shared aesthetic approaches in architecture and film. She’s a member of the Gowanus Studio Space and focused on printmaking and sculpture before becoming a weaver in order to work with child-safe materials.
