The Curaçao Pictures grew out of my annual journeys to Curaçao, where I work directly with the island’s radiant colors, layered textures, and light. Using my smartphone as a painter’s brush, I digitally transform plants, gardens, and beaches into abstractions created in real time, on site. These photographs are then printed on canvas or paper, blurring the line between photography, painting and prints. Like plein air work, they arise from immersion and immediacy, seeking to reveal not just the look of a place, but its spirit—vibrant, fractured, luminous, and alive with energy.
