
Gera Lozano
Mixed mediaGera Lozano, who works under the name Geraluz, is a Brooklyn-based public artist born in the Amazon region of Peru and raised in Newark, New Jersey. She holds a BFA from William Paterson University and an MFA from the San Francisco Art Institute, and her practice bridges large-scale murals, symbolism, and community ritual, drawing on Indigenous knowledge systems and geometric, light-based imagery. She has painted street murals across Brooklyn and Queens in collaboration with artist Jari WERC Alvarez and created an exterior and interior mural for the Essex Street Market on Manhattan's Lower East Side through the 100 Gates Project. Her work has been supported by the NEA and the Jacques and Natasha Gelman Foundation.
