Grace Moon is a Brooklyn-based artist, editor, and journalist whose studio practice spans portrait painting, drawing, design, and writing, with a focus on documenting queer lives and communities. In 2002 she founded Velvetpark: Dyke Culture in Bloom, an arts-and-culture magazine for queer women that ran through 2007 and later continued as Velvetpark Media, featuring figures such as Rachel Maddow and Margaret Cho; she went on to launch a residency program supporting emerging queer writers and visual artists. Moon has presented a Portrait Project during Bushwick Open Studios and appears in the Addresses Project, which documents lesbian and queer space and memory in New York City. She is based in Bushwick, Brooklyn, and her journalism has appeared in outlets including the BBC.
