Hedwig Brouckaert

Plastic waste and advertising imagery have been the primary material in my drawings, sculptures, and installations for over a decade. Out of what was commercial material loaded with distorted messages of desire and identity, I create tactile, abstract work that reflects on the toxicity of the hyper consumer culture of today. I work with collage on ceramic and stone tiles as an homage to NYC’ diverse society and its complex network of tiled subway tunnels that I pass through daily.
