Henry Chung
OtherDrawing from my years working in engineering, I often incorporate technology, new or old, in my work, like modifying and repurposing old cameras, designing embedded devices or programming outdated computer equipment. I create new contexts for things that might otherwise be discarded, and in doing so, question the concepts of obsolescence. This in combination with the subject matter is used to explore notions of nostalgia, history, identity and anonymity, with a focus on memory and its imperfect and elusive qualities.
Henry Chung is an artist based in New York City working in mixed-media and photography. Henry's art explores notions of nostalgia, memory, history, identity and anonymity. Henry lives in beautiful Brooklyn and maintains his studio in Red Hook, where he makes cameras and reprograms obsolete computer equipment. Fun fact: Henry is also a software engineer and spends his spare time perfecting his dumpling wrapper recipe.
