Janice McDonnell
PaintingJanice McDonnell is a Brooklyn-based painter with studios in Dumbo and Red Hook who holds a BFA from Ohio State University and trained further at the Art Students League of New York. Her landscape paintings chronicle Brooklyn's industrial waterfront, from the Gowanus Canal to Red Hook and the Brooklyn Navy Yard, using a theme she calls 'Pretty Industrial' to explore how nature and human structures intersect. She paints outdoors in early morning light, working up small plein-air studies into larger studio paintings, and has held artist residencies at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, the Vermont Studio Center, and the Washington Square Park Conservancy.
