I am drawn to the inherent humor that exists amid life’s hardships. Life is often simultaneously laughable and heart-wrenching, and I am fascinated by the contrasting emotions that coexist in the same moment. My work explores the tension, irony, and contradiction that arise from this conflict. My figures are placed in predicaments both real and surreal. At first glance, these situations may appear comical, but on closer inspection, it becomes clear that the characters are confined by their own physical or emotional boundaries. What was initially humorous is revealed as a moment of empathy. This display of human fragility captivates me—I find vulnerability endearing, beautiful, and universal. In addition to these figurative works, I also create functional cups, bowls, and plates, blending utility with aesthetic sensibility and allowing everyday objects to carry a sense of presence, narrative, and quiet humor.
