Lizzie Fine
PaintingLizzie is a Brooklyn-based abstract artist whose work is inspired by the natural world. Drawing on the forms and rhythms of biology, geology, topography, and more, she transforms these influences into intuitive, emotionally driven paintings. Her compositions explore the interplay of organic and geometric forms—a reflection of the landscapes around her. Her practice is slow and process-driven. Layer by layer, she builds texture, marks, and materials, attentive to how mediums interact and what they “say” to each other. Each painting becomes an open-ended dialogue, balancing structure and fluidity, intention and accident. The resulting works feel layered, shifting, and never fully fixed—inviting viewers to discover something new with each encounter.
Inspired by the forms and edges in the natural world – biology, geology, topography, and more – her work exhibits a delicate balance of color, spills, lines, and geometry, which emphasize process and experimentation. She uses pattern, texture and layering to create a visual dialogue between formal elements. She approaches each artwork with intuition, drawing from various inspirations to carefully sculpt her compositions. Although oil paint is her one true love, she often experiments with many different mediums such as spray paint, acrylics, and table salt.
