Marcelo Mayen

Marcelo Mayen is a photographer and filmmaker based in Greenpoint. Working primarily through staged tableaux, Mayen constructs scenes that feel both familiar and unsettling. His work explores the emotional and psychological pressures embedded in everyday life, such as the quiet dread of corporate America, masculinity, consumerism, and family dynamics. He favors symbolism over shock or controversy, allowing each image to reveal more the longer its observed. Mayen is also the founder of Dreams On Command, an art gallery in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
