Rick Secen is a Brooklyn-based oil painter whose figurative work uses traditional painting methods and an impressionist touch to depict scenes of daily life in New York City. A 2005 graduate of the Savannah College of Art and Design who initially worked in film sound editing after moving to the city, he turned to oil painting in 2015 and has since held two solo exhibitions: "City Witness" (2018), portraying life on the Lower East Side, and "Guiding Lights" (2022) at Established Gallery in downtown Brooklyn. His work has also appeared in the Municipal Art Society's "A Light in the City" digital gallery and in group shows including The Other Art Fair at the Brooklyn Expo Center and Case Study with the Gowanus Night Heron.

Some are witness to those who give it life. Some paintings glorify the ordinary. Some reveal beauty in solitude. All were an act of love.
