Russ Gera

His work explores history, memory, and the role of images in contemporary culture. Heavily influenced by his early creative field study of photography, he often uses found and secondhand imagery as a starting point to his works. He often transforms these subjects from their original intent, into works that are both familiar and disquieting, while questioning the reliability of visual information and the construction of narratives.
