Studio Bender is the working name of painter, sculptor, and muralist David Bender, who has run his Brooklyn art and design studio in Bushwick since leaving a decade-long advertising career—including work for agencies Grey and DDB and co-founding JanklowBender—in 1991. Trained at the Burnley School of Art in Seattle, Bender now works across painting, sculpture, murals, and drawing, describing his practice as guided by "the humility of not knowing," with ideas migrating between mediums and time periods. His work has been shown at Scope Miami, The White Room Gallery, Woodward Gallery, Arcadia Contemporary, and Arden Gallery, and he maintains an active presence online and on Instagram under the Studio Bender name.
