Susan Hoeltzel is a Bronx-based artist known for drawings on canvas that explore everyday objects and, in recent series, nature—plants, landscapes, and language. Her exhibition record extends from the 1970s through the 2010s, including shows at Bertha Urdang Gallery and Soho 20 in New York, the Hudson River Museum, the Islip Art Museum, and the Suffolk County Historical Society Museum, plus international venues in Germany, France, and Japan. Her work appeared in the traveling exhibition "Monumental Propaganda," organized by Independent Curators Inc., which was shown at the New York Financial Center Gallery, the Artists' Union in Moscow, and the Smithsonian in Washington, D.C.; in 2017 she won the Hudson River Museum's Walks with Artists photo competition.
