The Asian American Women Artists Alliance (AAWAA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded in 1998 in New York City to support and promote Asian American women artists in the visual, literary, and performing arts, and to educate the community about their contributions to the New York art scene. Over more than two decades the alliance has organized over 200 exhibitions and events, typically mounting several exhibitions a year featuring women artists of diverse backgrounds, from its 1998 inaugural exhibition at the New World Arts Center to projects such as the EAT ART exhibitions of work made with edible materials and artist Yan Kong's 2019 Balloon Project. It has also led art and craft workshops in local schools and libraries, building an intergenerational, pan-Asian network of emerging and established artists.
