Blue Mountain Gallery
Art galleryBlue Mountain Gallery is a nonprofit, artist-run cooperative gallery founded in 1980, when SoHo was emerging as an art epicenter, and now located in Chelsea, Manhattan. It was established to show the work of strong representational painters at a time when representational art had little presence in New York's commercial galleries, and its mission has since broadened to embrace abstract work as well. Administered by its artist members, who participate directly in curatorial decisions, the gallery presents rotating exhibitions of members' paintings, drawings, prints, mixed media, and sculpture, and describes itself as a gathering place where painters can communicate visually and verbally and find peer support.
