Art galleryGraham Shay 1857 is a private art gallery on Manhattan's Upper East Side, near Madison Avenue, specializing in American paintings and American and European sculpture from the 1840s through the twentieth century. Tracing its roots to 1857 as James Graham & Sons, it is one of the oldest family-owned galleries in New York, having passed through five generations; in 2018 director Cameron M. Shay added his name, renaming the gallery Graham Shay 1857. Its program covers historic American art, the Hudson River School, Ashcan School painters, and American modernism and sculpture, with artists such as Frederic Remington and Paul Manship. The gallery has placed works in institutions including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the National Gallery of Art, and the Smithsonian American Art Museum, and is a member of the Art Dealers Association of America.
