Kindred Arts is a New York-based cultural equity initiative founded and led by Executive Director Marsha Reid, a British-born curator who previously worked in artistic planning at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and produced outdoor public programming for Lincoln Center. The organization conceives and produces public art interventions and community arts programming in public spaces, working with cities and cultural offices to commemorate underrepresented histories. Its signature project, the Monumental Tour, is a traveling outdoor sculpture exhibition that has appeared in eleven U.S. cities, including a presentation of Kehinde Wiley's Rumors of War in Oakland, California, and is designed to challenge prevailing narratives of memorialization and spark civic dialogue.
