Laurel Gitlen
Art galleryLaurel Gitlen is a contemporary art gallery in Manhattan's Lower East Side run by dealer Laurel Gitlen, who began the project as Small A Projects in Portland, Oregon, before relocating it to New York in 2008 and renaming it for herself. The gallery moved to a larger Norfolk Street space in 2012, closed after roughly a decade in 2016, and has since resumed operating from a Lower East Side storefront. Over the years its program has included artists such as Corin Hewitt, Bill Jenkins, Anissa Mack, Joseph Montgomery, Emily Mae Smith, and Allyson Vieira, while recent exhibitions have featured artists including Este Lewis, Sam Linguist, Peggy Chiang, and Kate Salke, some presented in partnership with the project space Triangolo.
