Montague Contemporary is a gallery in Chelsea, Manhattan, founded in 2019 by Montague ('Monty') Hermann after nearly a decade living and working across roughly fifteen African countries, including two years spent with the Gola people in Liberia. The gallery focuses on emerging and mid-career contemporary artists from Africa and the African diaspora, aiming to build a fuller narrative around African art history, and runs a Supper Club series, artist residencies, and curatorial trips alongside its exhibitions. Its artists' work has entered public collections including the British Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, MoMA, the Smithsonian's National Museum of African Art, and the Studio Museum in Harlem.
