The National Museum of Mathematics (MoMath) is a Manhattan museum founded by Glen Whitney after the closure of the Goudreau Museum, previously the country's only math-focused museum, in 2006. Chartered by the New York State Education Department in 2009, MoMath raised more than $22 million and opened in December 2012 with over thirty interactive exhibits, including its well-known tricycle with square wheels that rolls smoothly over a catenary-curved track. The museum's aim is to enhance public understanding and perception of mathematics for broad audiences. After a period at a temporary Manhattan location, MoMath opened a permanent home in Chelsea in February 2026 with more than sixty interactive exhibits, and Fields Medalist Manjul Bhargava was named its first president that same month.
