Petzel is a contemporary art gallery founded in 1994 by dealer Friedrich Petzel, first opening in Soho before relocating to Chelsea in 2000 and expanding into a neighboring space in 2006. In 2008 it partnered with Cologne's Galerie Gisela Capitain to open Capitain Petzel in Berlin. The gallery moved to a larger Chelsea location in 2012, added an Upper East Side townhouse in 2015, and later opened an expanded flagship space in Chelsea. Petzel represents more than 40 international artists, including Ross Bleckner, Wade Guyton, Sarah Morris, Charline von Heyl, and Yael Bartana, with a program spanning painting, sculpture, film, installation, and performance.
