Southern Guild
Art gallerySouthern Guild is a contemporary art and design gallery founded in 2008 by Trevyn and Julian McGowan, with its original base in Cape Town and a Tribeca location in New York. The gallery represents artists and designers, including Zanele Muholi and Zizipho Poswa, whose work pushes the material and conceptual boundaries of contemporary African and diasporic practice across sculpture, textile, and functional design. Its program includes solo and group exhibitions, presentations at fairs such as Art Basel Miami Beach, and the Cape Town-based GUILD Residency for international artists. Pieces by gallery artists have entered the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, LACMA, and SFMOMA, and have been exhibited at institutions including Tate Modern and the Centre Pompidou.
