Steven S. Powers | Joshua Lowenfels is a gallery on Manhattan's Lower East Side dealing in what the partners describe as a "Venn diagram of Outsider, Self-Taught & Contemporary Works of Art." Steven Powers is a specialist in Woodlands-tradition Native American sculpture and American folk and outsider art, the author of two books on burl treen and Woodlands spirit imagery, and a longtime board member and current vice president of the Antiques Dealers' Association of America. Joshua Lowenfels, a native New Yorker and University of the Arts graduate, has spent three decades dealing in and collecting overlooked folk, outsider, and antique works. Together they exhibit sculpture, textiles, paintings, and found-object works, including pieces drawn from the Peter Brams collection of American folk and outsider art.
