Tara Downs is a Canadian gallerist and sculptor who runs her eponymous contemporary art gallery in Lower Manhattan. She holds a BA from Queen's University and an MFA in sculpture and installation from OCAD University, and worked as associate director at Tanya Leighton Gallery in Berlin before co-founding Tomorrow Gallery in Toronto in 2011. She relocated the gallery to New York in 2014, and in 2017 merged it with Alex Ross's Hester gallery to form Downs & Ross on the Lower East Side. Downs now presents a roster of international artists across painting, sculpture, and new media under her own name, with recent solo exhibitions by artists including Tsai Yun-Ju, Nick Jensen, and Julien Monnerie, and gallery participation in fairs such as Frieze New York, the Armory Show, and NADA Miami Beach.
