Throckmorton Fine Art
Art galleryThrockmorton Fine Art is a Manhattan gallery founded by Spencer Throckmorton in 1980. Throckmorton developed an interest in Latin American art history at university and traveled extensively through Mexico and Central America, building expertise that shaped the gallery's three core specialties: Latin American contemporary and vintage photography, Pre-Columbian antique sculpture, and Chinese jade and antiquities. The gallery holds a major collection of vintage Frida Kahlo photographs and rare prints by Tina Modotti and Edward Weston from their years in Mexico, and supports an exhibition and publishing program producing scholarly catalogues in each of its fields. It is a longtime exhibitor at the Winter Antiques Show and AIPAD, and a member of the International Association for Ancient, Asian and Tribal Art.
