Caroline Minchew is a lens-based artist born in 1992 in Arlington, Virginia, who lives and works between Virginia and New York. Her photography centers on landscape and botanical imagery, realized through processes including platinum and platinum-palladium printing, cyanotypes, plant-based anthotypes, and silver gelatin prints, often layered with charcoal, graphite, and natural pigments on supports such as silk and copper. She holds an MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University and a BA from Sewanee: The University of the South, and has attended residencies at High Desert Test Sites, the NARS Foundation, Penland School of Arts and Crafts, and the Burren College of Art. Her photographs are held in the National Museum of American History and the National Gallery of Art Photograph Study Collection in Washington, DC.
