Cephas Bradley jr. was named after his father who was named after his nurses ex-boyfriend. The name "Cephas" has many spiritual and supernatural derivatives; just like his Art, which illustrates the spiritual realm manifesting itself from colors and textures. His work communicates universal themes undefined yet implied through vividly rendered images. By the age of 7 Cephas Bradley knew that drawing was his true calling. After receiving a collection of work he had done over the school year from his teacher that he hadn't even realized he had done. He dedicated his life to creating Art that emphasized his everyday life and the lessons he learned along the way. Emphasizing emotions and genuine feelings Cephas Bradley incorporates Afrofuturism, Digital Art, Neo-Expressionism, and Surrealism to produce work that easily allows the viewer to subconsciously converse with his work. He utilizes several different mediums in his work including Acrylic and Oil paint, Computer Aided Design, Thumb Tac's, Wrapping Paper, Charcoal, Oil Pastel and even toothbrushes. Cephas enjoys taking risk in Art so his approach is always seemingly precarious. However, his work resonates with the viewer and the ideas Cephas illustrates are undeniably fully realized. For Cephas, producing Art gives him hope that he can make the world a better place. From struggling with racial and sexual identity to experiencing severe poverty and police harassment. He creates work that questions masculinity and exposes racial and socio-economic inequalities. In order to save the world we live in one piece at a time. Cephas Bradley's work is meant to make viewers see the strange in the familiar and appreciate the human experience in a way they've never experienced it before.
