Chris Eastland is a classically trained portrait artist based in Brooklyn, working mainly in oil and charcoal. He trained for seven years, from 1998 to 2005, at Charles H. Cecil Studios in Florence, Italy, studying the sight-size method within the Florentine atelier tradition, and from 2002 taught alongside the studio's faculty. From his private Brooklyn studio he now accepts a limited number of lifesize portrait commissions each year, alongside pet portraits and charcoal studies, and he teaches students the sight-size approach to drawing and painting that he learned in Florence. His portfolio also includes copies after classical works, among them a portrait after George Romney.
