Eileen Murphy is a painter born in 1981 in Mount Kisco, New York, who holds a BA from Mount Holyoke College (2003) and an MFA from Pratt Institute (2006). She has lived and worked in Brooklyn while splitting time with Columbia County, New York, and her landscape paintings draw on the Hudson Valley alongside art-historical references to painters such as Joachim Patinir, Jacob van Ruisdael, and Frederic Church. Murphy has had solo exhibitions with Sears Peyton Gallery and Thomas VanDyke Gallery in New York and Gallery Afternoon in Seoul, and is represented by Garvey|Simon in New York and Carrie Haddad Gallery in Hudson. She has held residencies at Vermont Studio Center and Yaddo, received a 2017 Individual Artist Award from the Santo Foundation, and participated that year in the U.S. State Department's Art in Embassies program in Algeria.
