Elena Mahno
Ceramics / PotteryElena Mahno merges her backgrounds in visual arts, science, and design with her preferred medium, clay. Her practice spans sculpture, relief work, and artful objects. She's drawn to systems and structures that hold more than one truth at once: bodies and cities in flux, the logics of biology, and the layered experience of a third-culture upbringing. In this space, form is a way to think about what’s seen and what’s held inside, what’s shared and what’s protected. The work borrows from biomorphic vocabularies and quiet, nostalgic feminine silhouettes. The pieces refuse a fixed image; instead, they invite reconfiguration, or a shifting vantage that mirrors how identity and memory negotiate between past and present. Modularity—rearrangeable reliefs, nesting forms, families of parts—becomes a method for exploring multiplicity and the possibility of more than a single reading. Elena is currently based in Brooklyn, NY.
