Erin Curtis

Ceramics / Pottery

Based in Brooklyn, New York, I (Erin) am a ceramic artist whose work is a homage to the natural world. Drawing inspiration from the flora, fauna, and landscapes of my New England upbringing and life along the East Coast, I hope to infuse each piece with a sense of wonder and connection to the outdoors. While much of my work is functional, the underlying themes are rooted in the moments and places that have sparked a sense of vibrancy and aliveness beyond myself.

Having navigated the complexities of mental health and neurodivergence, she views each creation as a quiet celebration of the enduring presence of joy and the everyday magic that surrounds us. Her ceramics are an invitation—to reconnect with nature, to rediscover oneself, and to find a bit of whimsy in daily rituals. Erin teaches handbuilding and wheel throwing in New York City, specializing in techniques like handpainting, sgraffito, and relief work. She is always exploring new imagery, sculptural forms, and concepts, with fresh ideas regularly on the horizon. Through her work, she hopes to share not only objects, but also a sense of delight, curiosity, and possibility with all who encounter her pottery. In her life beyond pottery, Erin is a PhD student in Clinical Psychology researching medical racism, environmental activism, and social determinants of mental health in urban environments.
