Johanna Evans is a Brooklyn-based artist working across video, photography, and neon. She holds an MFA in Photography and Video from the School of Visual Arts (2003) and a BFA in Photography and Film from Massachusetts College of Art and Design (1997). Her photographic work includes the ongoing Studio Horizon Series, begun in 2012, and the Portal Series, begun in 2024, alongside video projects that incorporate riso animation. She has been an artist-in-residence at PICTURE BERLIN and has exhibited internationally at venues including Pen + Brush Gallery in New York, WIRWIR Project Space in Berlin, and Galerie Ca'Zanardi in Venice, with additional shows in Spain, Belgium, Cuba, and Brazil. Recent presentations include the "Can You See Me Now?" single-channel video festival and the Every Woman Biennial at Pen + Brush.
