After nearly 36 years of living in Brooklyn, it’s time for me to say farewell. I’ve moved my residence to Kingston, New York and my art-making practice will soon follow. At this year’s Gowanus Open Studios, I will have on hand various works I’ve made in Gowanus over the past 10-15 years, plus new work as a part of my ongoing “Time-Being” and “True Refuge” series. Everything is for sale! Join me in commemorating my Gowanus years and to celebrate new beginnings. Follow me on social media to stay informed of future developments!

Born and raised in Ohio, John Azelvandre is a painter living and working in Kingston, New York. He studied music and audio engineering at the Ohio State University, then spent 36 years living in Brooklyn, New York. John's creative voyage has traversed the music industry, philosophy, environmental studies and education, leading to the visual arts. John creates landscapes and other organic forms in an experimental style ranging from expressionistic to abstract. From various angles and through multiple lenses, his work explores the relationship between the self and its environment.
