PaintingI make oil paintings that use surreal moments to engage with ideas of authenticity and performance. My work is a visual exploration of the choreography of everyday life and how we perform the self in the world. Much of my practice is inspired by cyberfeminism and the ways that we create digital avatars online–making usernames, editing pictures, or designing video game characters. Through these forms, we interact with the world in different ways, and as slightly different selves. I am interested in how this personal exploration of self translates into creating an external world and community.
