Norah Stone
Ceramics / PotteryNorah Stone is a ceramic artist based in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, whose sculptures merge hand-built clay forms with found and foraged materials such as insect remains, thorns, plastic objects, hair, and coins, often suspended or preserved in epoxy resin. She treats the kiln as a collaborator, using glaze experimentation and atmospheric firing to render geological-looking textures on the ceramic surface, and describes the embedded objects as carrying the psychic residue of a strained natural world. She is affiliated with A.I.R. Gallery in Brooklyn as an incoming fellow, and her practice extends beyond ceramics into mixed media, graphic design, and sculpture.
