Stewart Bird

Stewart Bird runs a recursive AI system that composts images across thousands of generations, feeding its own outputs back as inputs until they shed their cultural legibility. Fragments from that ecology are collaged by hand, composing new images from the system's residue, and fixes them in encaustic wax, resin, and pigment transfer on panel. The paintings are assembled artifacts pulled from a living digital process.

Alongside my studio art practice, I work as a creative technologist and technical director and have a decade of experience in motion, 3D, audio, interactive media for exhibition design and advertising. I love systems level thinking, and operate best in the borderlands between creative and technical execution to build ambitious projects.
