Trestle is a nonprofit contemporary art space founded in 2012 in Gowanus, Brooklyn, by artist and educator Rhia Hurt along with fellow artists, including Mary Negro and Ajit Kumar, who wanted to build a more supportive environment for local artists and curators. The organization now runs a roughly 15,000-square-foot community studio building in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, housing around 100 artists working in painting, textiles, sculpture, digital art, and other media, alongside a satellite space in Gowanus offering 24-hour studio access. Trestle's programming includes rotating exhibitions, artist residencies, community classes, and professional-development opportunities such as critique sessions.
