Visually Painting Jems
PaintingVictoria Pierre-Jean (VPJ) is an emerging Haitian American artist from Brooklyn, NY. A Licensed Clinician of Social Work by profession, VPJ rediscovered her artistic passion during graduate school, using art as a form of self-care. VPJ is an artist whose acrylic work is ever-evolving, deeply exploring the intersections of identity and history through the lens of portraiture and an ever evolving lense. Her art is a dynamic fusion of reality and imagination, where she uses vivid colors and expressive forms to address complex themes of selfhood, cultural heritage, and the influence of historical narratives. By blending different elements with powerful portraiture, VPJ’s pieces invite viewers to explore the layers of their own identities while also reflecting on the broader historical contexts that shape us all. Through her work, she hopes to inspire individuals to consider their own impact on the world, fostering deeper reflection and encouraging more conscious engagement with society. Her art is not just a visual experience but a call to action—challenging people to think critically, grow personally, and engage meaningfully with the world around them
I believe in the power of collaboration to art. As an artist and instructor I work closely with others to help inspire others to be artists and collectors of art. I take an immersive approach in my work to ensure we are creating a safe space of acceptance. Through acceptance and vulnerability we can use the power of imagination as a guide. With determination and accountability, we can create art that connects and moves us all.
