Art Creates Us, Inc., doing business as ProjectArt, is a nonprofit founded in 2011 by Adarsh Alphons to address the shortage of arts education in New York City's public schools. Starting from a borrowed office in Harlem, Alphons built a model that places free visual-arts classes and artist studios inside underused space in public libraries rather than in dedicated school buildings, pairing working artists with students as teachers. Since its founding, ProjectArt has served thousands of New York City youth and has expanded its library-based model to additional cities, including Miami, Los Angeles, Detroit, Pittsburgh, and Cincinnati. The organization is headquartered in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
