The Asian American Arts Centre (AAAC) is a nonprofit arts organization in Manhattan's Chinatown, founded in 1974 as the Asian American Dance Theatre, making it one of the earliest Asian American community arts organizations in the United States. Its mission is to affirm and promote the preservation and creative vitality of Asian American cultural growth through the arts. Long based on the Bowery before relocating, the Centre created the first public archive of Asian American artists in 1982, organized exhibitions including "CHINA: June 4, 1989," a response to Tiananmen Square featuring over 300 artists, and maintains artasiamerica, a digital archive documenting Asian American visual culture since 1945. Its stewardship has recently been entrusted to Think!Chinatown.
