Foreign & Domestic is a contemporary art gallery on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, founded in 2022 by Alex Meurice, an American raised in Germany and London to French parents. The gallery's name borrows the old auto-shop shorthand distinguishing foreign and domestic vehicles, reflecting Meurice's own overlapping cultural identities and the gallery's interest in art exploring intersections of culture, process, and people. Its program has included solo presentations such as "tinmantis: elite fine art," reviewed in the New York Times, and critical writing in the Brooklyn Rail has examined the space's engagement with how galleries function as sites of artistic meaning-making. Foreign & Domestic is a member of NADA.
