Landmark West is a nonprofit historic preservation organization on Manhattan's Upper West Side, founded in 1985 to secure landmark status for individual buildings and historic districts and to protect them from demolition or insensitive alteration. It describes itself as steward of more than 3,200 designated architectural and cultural landmarks in the area stretching roughly from 59th to 110th Streets, between Central Park and Riverside Park. Beyond advocacy work, the organization runs Keeping the Past for the Future, an education program that brings preservation and neighborhood history to students through lessons and walking tours, offered free to New York City public schools. It is listed in the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs directory of cultural organizations.
